Chipped, cracked, and broken windshields are the most common car repairs that Centennial Glass technicians repairs. In many cases, the driver is not at fault for damaged windshield or side windows.

Auto glass damage can be caused by flying rock and debris, vandalism, falling branches, and even bugs and animals. Over time sand and gravel can take its toll on a windshield surface.

When you bring your vehicle to Centennial Glass for windshield repairs or replacement, we may be able to work with your auto insurance company in Minnesota to get your car serviced. Below is a brief summary on why your insurance company may pay for your auto glass service. To find out more information, feel free to call Centennial Glass
Auto Glass Coverage in Your Auto Policy
Your auto insurance policy will cover windshield damage. The question is whether your provider will pay for the coverage without raising your rates. In other words, you may be able to get your auto glass repaired or replaced without paying anything.

Keep in mind, insurance companies are not required to offer free glass coverage on your policy. It is, however, in the company’s interest to do so. Taking care of your windshield repair can protect your vehicle from further damage if you are in a collision or if an object flies into your car.

If an insurance company does not completely pay for the auto glass service, they may cover part of the repair, and you will pay a deductible.
Will Comprehensive Insurance Cover an Auto Glass Repair?
If you have comprehensive coverage on your vehicle, the insurance company may cover the repair under your coverage. Each insurance has its own comprehensive coverage plans.

In most cases, comprehensive coverage will cover damages that occur from:

● Falling objects
● Fire
● Car theft
● Vandalism
● Glass damage
● Flooding

Check to see if your insurance policy includes windshield repair and replacement in your comprehensive covers. You’ll also want to check to see if it covers 100% of the auto glass repair or if you will have to pay a deductible. If the policy states that the coverage is ‘All-Inclusive,’ you’ll need to clarify what that means.
Will Your Rates Go Up If You File a Claim?
In addition to a deductible, your insurance company may raise your premiums if you file a claim. This is not the case, however, with all insurance companies. Some car insurance companies and some policies will allow for glass replacement without requiring payment of a deductible.

In most cases, a claim for glass damage that does not result from a collision or an accident that was not your fault does not cause an increase in your car insurance rates.

Something to consider is whether you want another claim to go on your policy. Too many claims may warrant a hike in your insurance rates even if you are not at fault for the claims. You may find that paying for the auto glass repair out of pocket is better than filing a claim with your provider.
Submitting a Claim
If your deductible is low and your premiums do not go up, you’ll need to submit a claim with your insurance company as soon as possible. Once you contact the insurance company, an agent will confirm if you’re windshield repair or replacement is covered under the policy. An adjuster may want to inspect the damage before we fix the glass.

Once you submit the necessary information, we can take it from there. In most cases, Centennial Glass will be listed as an acceptable car repair shop on your insurance. If we are not listed, you can request to have us added.

We work with insurance companies every day through the repair process. Your insurance company will either pay us directly, or you will pay for coverage and get reimbursed by the provider.
